Nintendo won’t restock some Amiibo figures

First shipment will mark the end of certain figures’ availability, but Nintendo isn’t saying which

Nintendo is already whittling down its range of Amiibo figures just three weeks after they first launched.

In a statement issued to the press, the company responded to to reports that certain figures in its toys-to-life range had not been restocked after selling out at various retailers.

“We will aim for certain Amiibo to always be available,” the statement read. “These will be for our most popular characters like Mario and Link. Due to shelf space constraints, other figures likely will not return to the market once they have sold through their initial shipment.”

However, according to Wired, Nintendo isn’t willing to share any specific details about which figures will be cancelled and which will be readily available – beyond the statement’s reference to “Mario and Link.” However, the Canadian retailer Video Games Plus tweeted that Nintendo had officially discontinued the Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer figures.

For those intending to collect the full Amiibo range, the lack of clarity offered by Nintendo will be unhelpful. Certain figures have far more robust supply lines than others, and private trading of the rarer figures at inflated prices has already started in earnest.
