1,400-HP, 290-MPH Hennessey Venom F5 Breaks Cover
Courtesy of Top Gear, take a look at the new Hennessey Venom F5. Named after the most destructive form of tornado, the upgraded Venom “could possibly exceed 1,400 hp” John Hennessey informed TG. The 7.0-liter twin-turbo will come wrapped in a carbon-fiber body with the complete package weighing in at under 1,300 kg – affording it a better power-to-weight ratio than the Koenisgegg One:1. The F5’s slick new bodywork cloaking the underpinnings of a Lotus Exige will boast a drag coefficient of below 0.40.
The current Venom GT stands at 0.44, but Hennessey insists the F5 “will have more than enough downforce.” It will also have a top speed in the 290 mph range.” Earlier this year, the 1,244-hp Venom GT hit 270 mph on the runway at the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Eking out an additional 20 mph is no mean feat, but if anyone can do it, John Hennessey can.
The F5 will be offered with a single-clutch paddle-shift box in addition to the current Venom’s six-speed manual, and will come with a new GPS-based traction control. Hennessey plans to roll out the Venom F5 next year, with 30 units planned priced at more than the $1,200,000 Venom GT.
