Mega Man has hit a rough spot in recent years with the cancellation of two big titles, the lukewarm release of Mega Man Xover, and the news that there would be no game released for his 25th Anniversary. Fans feared this spelled the end of the Blue Bomber, but Capcom USA senior vice president Christian Svensson has recently spoken up to reassure everyone, there will be more Mega Man. A lot more.
Discussing it with Nintendo Power, Christian Svensson revealed fans would be seeing more Mega Man on both handhelds and consoles, but was hesitant to say more.
I can say with certainty that you’ve not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we’ll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you’re going to enjoy over the next 25 years.
That said, an issue we’ve had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we’re certain they’re going to come out, which unfortunately has lead to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I’m going to have to stay mum about any details.
With no games publicly in the pipeline Fans may have a hard time believing they have another 25 years worth of games ahead of them; and Capcom’s poor treatment of their iconic hero could leave many skeptical.
